Mental Health Awareness: Suicide Prevention Walk

On Wednesday, Oct. 7 students and staff of the SVRSS took part in an assembly on Mental Health Awareness.  James Wigley welcomed students to the assembly, Lori Parker spoke to students, and Tammy Connolly shared information and video on stigma.

After the assembly, the Suicide Prevention Walk was held.  Each participant received a water bottle with local help numbers.  Thank you to all presenters for supporting our students.

Post-Secondary Day - Wednesday, Oct 28

On Wednesday, October 28th we will be hosting Post-Secondary Day with recruiters from various colleges, universities and Canadian Armed Forces.  There will be presentations for the students as well as displays with additional information.  Grade 11 and 12 students are asked to ensure that they are signed up for sessions.

In addition to Post-Secondary Day, there will be a Post-Secondary Evening Presentation for students and parents on Tuesday, November 3rd at 7 pm in the multi-purpose room.  At this presentation we will discuss the difference between college, university, apprenticeship and private colleges, the costs involved, when to start applying for post-secondary, applying for scholarships and loans, and so on. We look forward to seeing you there!

Canadian Parents for French Meeting

There will be a CPF Meeting Wednesday, October 28th, 7pm at Swan Sports Lounge - The Other Side, 131 5th Ave. N.

Items on the agenda: 

 The setting up and funding of a SVRSS Grade 12 Graduation CPF Bursary.
 CPF monetary recognition to CPF Certificate and Diploma students.
 Seeking a volunteer to act as CPF Treasurer.

 CPF executive presentation to SVSD Board November 9th.
