Youth Sexual Exploitation, Social Media & The Law Parent Presentation

Youth Sexual Exploitation,
Social Media & The Law
An Evening Presentation for Parents of youth Grade 6-12.

The Internet Child Exploitation Unit of the RCMP will explore the definition of the media coined phenomenon "SEXTING" and take the audience through a scenario. The scenario will expose what sexting is, the impacts and offer options to prevent the risks associated to sexting behaviours as well as how to reduce the harm of actions already undertaken. Officers and parents have experienced a concerning increase in reports of Self/Peer online sexual exploitation. We have recognized that the issue required more than investigation and enforcement and that the victimization needed to be prevented through education and awareness.

Learn more about Criminal Code legalities of Self/Peer sexual exploitation and asking anyone under the age of 18 for naked pictures. This also applies for youth to youth.

Learn about websites where kids and adults can go to report incidents that have happened, for tips and strategies, stories, questions and answers etc.  These two websites are: cybertip.ca and needhelpnow.ca
